Serving individuals, couples, and families

Maybe life seems to be spinning out of control or you're finding it hard to get out of bed in the morning. You may be knocked down by hard news, undone by grief, burdened with guilt or shame, or wondering if you should take a look at some past hurts. Maybe it’s a confusing life transition or a painful broken relationship. Or you’re trying to understand your emotions or figure out how a psychiatric diagnosis fits with your life of faith. Perhaps someone who loves you thinks that counseling could help.

I’d be glad to consider with you if a season of counseling could be part of your path towards health and hope..

Serving churches

My counseling training is from the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation, whose mission is “to restore Christ to counseling and counseling to the church by thinking biblically about the issues of living in order to equip the church to meet counseling-related needs.”

It gives me joy to serve local churches. Most pastors can’t care for all the counseling needs of their congregants. Through providing Biblical Counseling resources, the church can support hurting members, helping them respond to the invitations God gives through times of trial and suffering. I’m honored to spend time with church members and leaders, not as a substitute for the ministry of the church, but as a way to support it.

Some ways that I’ve been privileged to partner with local churches:

  • Church stipends for members to receive counseling. This has worked well when I offer a reduced church-rate fee, those receiving counseling contribute what they can, and the church covers the difference – counselor, counselee, and church together creating a three-strand partnership, each member doing its part for the growth of the body of Christ.

  • Educational workshops for church members and leaders that explore the connections between mental health issues and biblical Christian faith.

  • Outreach events focused on mental, emotional, and relational health.

  • Curriculum and consultation to help build lay counseling in the church.

If any of these interest you, please contact me. I’d love to talk.
